NextHow to implement 'Pay based on usage' payment method to your product's check out page

Last updated 7 months ago

DePlan is a new payment method that lets customers to subscribe to apps and pay for how much they actually use their subscriptions based on their Intensity of Usage of apps they subscribed to and get their money back when they don't use them. DePlan lets product owners get back their unsubscribed customers and decrease churn rate.

'Pay based on usage'

Developers add 'Pay based on usage' payment method to their check out page.

While subscribing to the app users choose 'Pay based on usage' payment method and deposit money — a sum of a monthly subscription.

In user's DePlan account they can see how intesevely they use the app during a month and amount of money they save while they don't use the app.

At the end of the month user will get saved money back to their card. The amount is calculated based on user's Intensity of Usage of the app they subscribed to.

Intensity of Usage

Intensity takes into account different variables like: quantity of downloads/uploads/exports, frequency of usage, amount of consumed content (articles read, video watched…) etc..

How Intencity of Usage is calculated

The one who load the app server more than others during a month (Max Usage) would pay more.

The one who didn't use the app during a month at all (Min Usage) would pay zero.

Other users get the price in between zero and full monthly subscription price based on their percent relevant to Max and Min Usage.

Advantages for developers

Developers can provide customers they already lost with a new offer 'Start using our product again and pay not monthly subscription but pay for how much you actually use our product'. 'Pay based on usage' payment method can get back unsubscribed users and bring more new users to products by making subscriptions affordable.

Advantages for users

Users get fair pricing model, start using more products and use it more often, get rid of annoying ads. 'Pay based on usage' payment method makes users feel comfortable and safe.
